When Menno and Ruth Burkholder decided to join the new Old Order Mennonite settlement in Berks County, Pennsylvania, they were unaware of the hardships they would face. For a couple newly married in the 1950s, the new community in Penn Valley seemed a long distance from their Lancaster County roots. But a greater challenge awaited with the birth of two children who had a rare medical condition that would later be named Mennonite Mycrocephaly.
A family history book told in narrative form, based on memories, letters, and diaries. Follows the history of the Penn Valley Mennonites from the 1950s to 1990s— an interesting read for all who enjoy Old Order Mennonite history.
