It was the summer of 1987, and Gary was trying not to get frustrated. He and his brothers continued their search for the missing doctor who amputated his leg, and they were running out of money. They came to a small town in Iowa along the Mississippi River, where they entered a fishing contest in hopes of winning the cash they needed. After making friends with an autistic boy who was a good angler, the boys are shocked to discover that the vanished physician was renting a room in their new pal's house. With the forwarding address locked in a safe with a lost combination and other contestants cheating to claim the prize, Gary fears that their quest is coming to an unsatisfying end.
