The Eastward Trails Trilogy is a historical fiction series based on the roots of Anabaptism and the persecution these believers faced. Much of the major events are based on historical fact.
In Reclaimed, fifteen-year-old Bettje Weaver of Leeuwarden is afraid because of the leaking dikes threatening the Netherlands. But that is not the only danger that frightens her. There is a group of people called "Anabaptists" that have been causing upheavals everywhere. The emperor Charles decreed all Anabaptists must be executed. Bettje's own parents have been baptized, and she feels like the world is falling apart. But they have a different view--they tell her that they have been reclaimed!
