Doors Through the Great Wall is an adventure-filled memoir set in post-Mao China. A young Anabaptist English teacher meets a culture that is both entirely different yet surprisingly similar to her Amish Mennonite roots. "The Great Wall" symbolizes the situations that presented obstacles and challenges throughout the (non-consecutive) five years she spent in China. The "doors" represent the ways she was offered help, insight, and grace to navigate the difficulties.
