Grandpa Ens had a past of which he was not proud. He was ashamed of how he had become entangled with the religious fanatics of the 1530s. However, he knew he had to tell his story as the oncoming generation was encountering similar challenges. He never stopped reminding the younger generation that the Lord is the only one on whom we can truly depend.
Life was not easy for the Dutch speaking Mennonites of the 1570s. Through rough waters and high waves, they continually drew strength from the Lord of the sea.
